Bio

Soulful soprano weaving together classical, jazz, folk and pop

Tze 柳慈 is a Malaysian-Canadian artist who loves storytelling, making music with people, and the thrill of soaring and stamping with an orchestra. A neoclassical artist with opera roots, her music is a colourful fusion of symphonic, jazz and pop, painted to lyrics that are poetic, candid and soul searching.

Tze’s debut EP: heart, don't scramble (2026) explores love and coming of age in your 20s: first love, breaking away from codependency, the fluttery feeling of having a new crush, disillusionment and falling in love with the warmth of an embrace. The standout track "Café Beau Soir" is a catchy bossa nova tune about a shy woman dreaming of asking her crush out — hummable and playable at coffee shops, dinner parties and candlelit date nights.

Her dynamic soprano voice, which can soar to crystalline heights and resonate richly down low, is hailed as warm, soulful and ethereal. As a session singer, she is skilled at recording film and video game soundtrack, improvising live, and delivering vocals in multiple languages: Mandarin, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, German, French, Latin, Malay and even made-up languages.

Tze has performed in Vancouver jazz bands, art song and opera recitals, musical theatre shows, and festivals including the Nikkei Matsuri, Fairchild Radio's 21st Canadian Chinese Songwriting Quest, the Jade Music Festival championing Chinese heritage in music, and See Us Hear Us by Elimin8 Hate and the Vancouver Asian Film Fempowering Asian Canadian voices in music.

From one human heart to another: she hopes to be the S-tier songstress on your team who is both a warrior and a healer, singing to empower and soothe hearts.
